Steve Tells His Story 2

Steve Tells His Story 2

In 1972, Steve was hiking down the Alum Cave Bluffs trail with his brother. They'd hiked about two thirds or three fourths of the way down the trail when they encountered a man in street clothes, polyester slacks, street shoes like loafers or something like that, dress shirt, no tie, carrying two suitcases. The man asked Steve, "Excuse me, how much farther is it to the Lodge?" Behind him were a daughter and son in Sunday clothes and a wife similarly attired. Apparently the man had made reservations at the Lodge not realizing that it was not just like a regular motel.

Having Steve tell this tale is becoming a tradition of the hike up Mount LeConte.
